Post Office at Cincinnati
Cincinnatirsquo;s magnificent Post Office on Government Square as seen in 1901. This amazing building sadly had a short life span, 1885-1936. The (new) Post Office on the same site would open in 1939. It stands today as the Potter Stewart Federal Court House. You can see the east end of Fountain Square on the left and the old Thomrsquo;s Building in the distance across from the Post Office at Fifth and Main. Also, note the newer model Streetcars and their electric power lines running over head. This photo beautifully captures the end of the Victorian Age at the dawn of the Twentieth Century in a major American City.
