Cincinnati Skyline

This photo of Cincinnatirsquo;s Public Landing, circa 1915, captures the city in the early morning hours. The Princess steamer is docked and preparing to get underway. The old Spencer House Hotel is seen on the right at the corner of Front and Broadway. The old Cincinnati Union Bethel Building near Sycamore, also on Front Street, is clearly seen with its decorative clock tower. The new towering Union Central Life Insurance Building, opened in 1913, dominates the early 20th century skyline. One cannot help but notice the abundance of smoke-stacks and the general haze of the dirty industry laced air. Cincinnati, during this period, was the sixth largest city in America with a population of nearly 326,000 residents.
